ABOUT THE COURSE
Tooth wear has an increasing prevalence and is a challenging condition for the clinician to discuss with the patient and offer predictable solutions. We created this comprehensive course based on the real-life clinical dilemmas and the skills required to solve them. The Tooth wear Course was developed as an answer to the questions and challenges that we face when managing this group of patients. The two-day programme is designed to take you chronologically through the patient’s journey, from initial assessment to interceptive treatment and right through to maintenance and recalls.
AIMS & OBJECTIVES
- Discuss the value in copy/pasting direct composites and its alternatives.
- Explain step by step technical and clinical processes including maintenance, consenting and occlusal appliances.
- Discuss different ways to communicate a smile design with the dental laboratory.
- Describe occlusal concepts and records needed when altering the patient’s occlusion.
- Discuss when, how and why apply the Dahl concept.

Alongside the fundamental concepts of injection moulding, we will dissect the following:
- Introduction with a case presentation.
- Rationale for restorative versus orthodontic approach.
- How to carry out a new patient consultation.
- Systematic approach to patient assessment with respect to tooth wear and injection moulding.
- Dental photography.
- Discussion with the patient on awareness and ownership.
- Facially driven treatment planning and smile design.
- Writing laboratory prescriptions using a template
- Lab communication.
- Occlusal considerations in tooth wear patients.
- Effects of tooth wear on natural dental tissues.
- Options for managing tooth wear with a focus on Dahl principal.
- How and when to change the occlusal vertical dimension.
- Surface treatment for Injection moulding.
- How to manage failures.
- Maintenance and occlusal splints.
